Sleepy Slacker Mom

I did the smart thing and stayed up till nearly 3 a.m. editing engagement photos for my sister.
Which didn’t seem so smart at 7 a.m.

I’m super sleepy.
Interesting fact: on top of being sleepy, irritable, grouchy, grumpy, and just a wee bit snippy, my ADHD medication doesn’t work when I’m overly tired.
I need a minimum of 8 hours of sleep to avoid this. For real.

Also: my ADHD medication doesn’t work when I’m hormonal. Hmmm… when does this medication work? I’m starting to wonder.

Also: I haven’t done laundry in 3 weeks. Except for underwear. We all have our limits, I mean, come on. But seriously… my kids outfits are starting to look

I just thought you should know.

I don’t even have kids to keep up with and I need 8 hours!

I am an LDS mom recently diagnosed with ADD. I have found the same thing, if I don’t take care of myself (ie don’t get enough sleep) it doesn’t matter how much medication you give me. I am not going to be able to focus or get things done. I am still trying to figure out what works for me as far as adjusting my schedule to work with the ADD, instead of against it. I have always loved the gospel, but it seems like the more I embrace the ADD, the more I feel discouraged by all that we are required to do as LDS moms, it just doesn’t seem very ADD friendly! Lol! ;) Anyway, this is the first post I have read on your blog and I look forward to learning more from you, it’s good to know I’m not alone. :)

  3. OK I find when I am hormonal a week before tot he week of my Monthly my ADD meds do not work either, as for the sleep thing though, sleep does not affect it not working unless I have been awake till 2 4-5 nights in a row a have a hard time going to sleep when I am ADD focused on a craft project!

    • Ahh yes… the hyperfocus! I do that ALL THE TIME. Everything that’s even semi important, compared to what’s REALLY REALLY interesting at the moment is out the window!
