I would very much like to share some cute pictures and updates on how our first week and a half of homeschool went. However… I have misplaced my camera’s battery charger and my camera is dead so I can’t upload them.
I’m also missing our rechargeable battery charger if anyone has seen that…?
One other thing, it is apparent that I’ve lost my marbles. I’ll be hunting for them under the couch and behind the dresser as I attempt to locate miscellaneous battery chargers.
All a day in the life of an adhd mind, I tell you.
Approximately once a month, I get a huge burst of energy which I typically lack. By “lack of energy” I mean, really, negative amounts of energy. When I get this surge of vitality I actually wake up early all by myself. I beat the kids up. NO. I do not beat my kids up. Ever. Ahem. I meant to say, I awake earlier than my children. Gosh, English can be tricky. :s
Where was I?? That totally killed my train of thought… hrmmm….
Oh yes. As I was saying, when I have these glorious moments of energized, uh, energy (?? see, English is hard!), I try to take advantage of it and go go go until the going is gone. It’s a temporary, likely hormonal, rush that is running on limited time. This morning I woke up at 6:00 a.m., fresh with whole new homeschool worries and anxieties on my mind. (And now, the ability to speak English seems like a limiting factor in my daughter’s schooling experience.) Soon, I was rearranging the living room. It was on my list of things to do but the list gets longer and longer and rarely does the doing get done!
The rearranging commenced. I had to move the book shelf over to the other side of the computer desk. It was in a dark and dusty corner and I wanted this year’s curriculum on it and I wanted it to be within arm’s reach of the table. All the better for the lazy homeschooler, yes? All of a sudden I was playing musical furniture–a very heavy game–and moving this stuff into that shelf, moving that shelf over here, moving the stuff that was on that shelf into that box that I just dumped out, then moving that stuff that’s now dumped into that storage tote I just emptied, and on and on and on and on….
The ironic thing is, I went to all this work despite the fact that we’re still hoping to move soon. (No word on that front, unfortunately.) Just your typical small-house-juggling-to-educate-your-kids-at-home switcheroo.
Do you ever feel the urge to rearrange your house allatonceinabigbigrush, or do you like to reorganize a bit more… methodically?
Would you do me just a quick little favor? Would you mind just filling out this quick little form? I’m contemplating some changes in the future for this little blog of mine, and I’d love your input.
Since my blog “niche” is just a wee bit scattered (uh, ADHD anyone??), I want to know why you are here reading this blog. Are you skipping every few posts, just waiting for the posts you’re most interested in? Or are you loving every single word I write? (Ha ha.)
Filling this out should take you two minutes, max. Unless your kids interrupt you every twenty seven seconds while reading it, then I can’t guarantee anything!
Quilting, quilting, quilting, feed kids, quilting, quilting, homeschool?, quilting, quilting, quilting, quilting, kids, quilting…
and so on. This is hardly blog worthy, unless you happen to write a quilting blog. Now I’d like to announce the name change of my blog:
CONFESSIONS OF A QUILTING MOM.
Just kidding. Mostly. ;)
Expect a full fledged quilty post as I brag about my soon-to-be completed quilt for my daughter’s third birthday. Her birthday is on March 1st, so I plan on finishing it up on…
March 1st. Naturally!
Do you ever go peruse your local home show? This weekend at the South Towne Expo Center there is an AWESOME home show going on. I happen to be sort of an expert on home shows, because I drag my kids there ALL the time.
My husband’s family business, Stanfield Shutter, can be found at the home show! My super cute hubby works half of every home show, so I load up the kids, say hi to him, then browse the aisles of the show. Frankly, I do it to get out of the house while he’s working until 10 pm, but the kids load up on freebie candy while I get discounts on home repairs, services, and more. My kids love their bags of swag, and I love the home show-only discounts.
THIS Saturday, guess who else will be at the show? The totally adorable, totally ADHD (go Team ADD!) Ty Pennington. Get some design tips from his free workshop, or just sit and stare dreamily while your kids, hyped up on sugar, run around in circles.
Come to the home show, and stop by Stanfield Shutter for their KILLER home show deal. Just be sure to tell the sales guy Sarah sent you–its probably my husband! Get more details HERE and discounts for show tickets!
