I’m excited to tell you that Nicole and I have officially finished the Walk Beside Me Preschool Curriculum! We have had such an amazing learning adventure (both of us!) as we homeschooled through our preschool year. I have loved being able to incorporate Gospel lessons through her schooling.
However, that really has nothing to do with what I’m about to share with you! While we have finished with the letter Z, today I’m sharing with you the preschool lessons for W! Today we have…
W is for Jonah and the Whale!
Now before you get all nitpicky on me, I know that it actually says in the Bible that Jonah was swallowed by a fish. A great fish, I believe? But the artwork I had is a whale, most children’s Bible stories tell us about a whale, and quite frankly, I didn’t have a lot of letter ideas for W. In fact, we initially did J is for Jonah and the Whale, but before I posted the lessons, I changed it to J is for Jesus Died for Me. I can’t remember what I had initially planned the letter W to be… oh yes I do. It was going to be the Wise Man and the Foolish Man but you know what? I didn’t have artwork! :) {I appear to be slightly distractable today.}
Jonah and the Great Fish (buy the DVD, digital download, or digital week long rental!) (I love how they work to help children not just understand the stories, but apply them to their own lives!)
Some great Jonah clip art (laminate and put magnets on the back for a modern flannel board, use a cookie sheet to tell the story!)
The secular focus for the week is on Weather. Children this age are fascinated by weather and seasons. On the preschool schedule you’ll find a fun online game, a large motor skills game, and a science project! I’m now an affliate for Usborne books (more on that to come!) and I’m loving their non-fiction books. Some great ones to help complete your theme would be Weather, Getting Dressed Sticker Book, and Seasons. (One cool thing about Usborne is that any order under $60 ships for just $5, and any order over $40 qualifies you for monthly specials at least 60% off!)
Thank you so much for posting :) I’m excited to spend the summer brushing up on my 3 year olds skills and the gospel focus is wonderful. Thank you for your work. I know how much time it takes to put these together.
Would you do me just a quick little favor? Would you mind just filling out this quick little form? I’m contemplating some changes in the future Read More »
